The findings provide\u00a0insight into\u00a0the financial situation within the textile value chain and show that net shortfalls in textile collection and sorting are expected to increase further in 2025 and 2026. In addition, the evaluation of this first large-scale Cost Price Study has generated valuable insights and\u00a0identified\u00a0several areas for improvement.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"724\" height=\"483\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stichtingupvtextiel.nl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/06\/iStock-1001545310.jpg\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" style=\"object-fit:cover;\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stichtingupvtextiel.nl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/06\/iStock-1001545310.jpg 724w, https:\/\/www.stichtingupvtextiel.nl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/06\/iStock-1001545310-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 724px) 100vw, 724px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p><strong>Supplement Cost Price Study\u00a0&amp;\u00a0Fees\u00a02026<\/strong>\u00a0<br>The 2024 Cost Price Study mapped the costs and revenues of the textile waste market for 2024. The study was\u00a0subsequently\u00a0supplemented with an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.stichtingupvtextiel.nl\/en\/blog\/supplement-to-cost-price-study-costs-rise-revenues-fall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">analysis of\u00a0cost and revenue levels in 2025 and 2026<\/a>. The findings show that collection,\u00a0pre-sorting\u00a0and sorting activities operate\u00a0at a net shortfall, with revenues insufficient to cover the costs incurred.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The updated net cost prices for 2026 in the Netherlands are:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Collection and pre-sorting: between \u20ac0,07 and \u20ac0,12 per kg net shortfall;\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sorting: between \u20ac0,07 and \u20ac0,14 per kg net shortfall.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These ranges were used by&nbsp;StUPV&nbsp;as one of the starting points for negotiations with service providers for the period from 2026 onwards. In addition, contracted volumes, the duration of the agreement, market&nbsp;conditions&nbsp;and available capacity formed important building blocks for the individual agreements. To date, a large proportion of service providers have entered into multi-year contracts with the foundation.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br><strong>Insights for future cost price studies<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>As this was the first time a study of this scale had been carried out for textile collection and sorting, the approach and design of the Cost Price Study were evaluated within the Textiel&nbsp;Keten&nbsp;Overleg. This evaluation generated valuable insights,&nbsp;identified&nbsp;areas for improvement, and highlighted key themes for future Cost Price Studies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Areas&nbsp;for&nbsp;improvement&nbsp;in the&nbsp;study&nbsp;approach:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Providing a more detailed explanation of the activity-based costing\u00a0methodology\u00a0applied\u00a0at the start of the study.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Replacing the current Excel template with a more user-friendly online environment for data submission.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Continuing to\u00a0validate\u00a0submitted data against participants\u2019 financial records.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Including an explicit review of each participant\u2019s individual outcome as part of the study process.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Increasing transparency through the sharing of aggregated interim results.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Creating more opportunities for coordination between service providers, sector\u00a0organisations\u00a0and Stichting UPV
