22 May 2025<\/em> – This summer, Dobbi and Stichting UPV Textiel are launching a long-term partnership to make clothing collection for consumers easier and more accessible. Through supermarkets and busy Dobbi\u2013PostNL service points, people can quickly and conveniently drop off their used clothing.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

By leveraging PostNL\u2019s logistics network, the number of collection points will be significantly expanded. In July, a pilot will start with 200 Dobbi\u2013PostNL locations, which will gradually grow to 800 if successful. In the long term, the goal is to establish a nationwide network of 3,500 drop-off points. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Research by Stichting UPV Textiel shows that more than half of discarded textiles still end up in household waste. Convenience plays a major role: 86% of consumers are willing to travel no more than fifteen minutes to hand in clothing, provided the process is simple. \u201cBy linking textile collection to existing retail networks, we make it as easy as possible to drop off clothing,\u201d says Maurits Tiethoff, co-founder of Dobbi. \u201cCollecting in clean retail environments also improves the quality of collected textiles, which increases the chance of reuse.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sekhar Lahiri, Director of Stichting UPV Textiel, underlines the importance of separate collection and innovation: \u201cThe pilot will help us determine whether collection at high-traffic locations combined with targeted consumer information leads to more and higher-quality reusable textiles. This way, we can better support producers in meeting their legal obligations and increase transparency across the chain.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dobbi, named the world\u2019s most sustainable textile cleaning company in 2024, is fully committed to circular solutions such as cleaning, repair, and reuse. Together with Stichting UPV Textiel, they are working towards a circular textile chain in which reuse and recycling take center stage. \u201cOur ambition is to roll out this service nationwide and continue innovating together,\u201d says Ruben van Pelt, co-founder of Dobbi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this new collection system, consumers can actively contribute to making the fashion industry more sustainable\u2014by simply returning their clothing at trusted service points. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
